Srinagar, January 12 (KNO) : Muslim League Jammu Kashmir on Saturday said that ‘inhuman treatment' is meted out to the Pakistani prisoners, saying “it is unfortunate that the jail authorities treat these prisoners like professional criminals in jails which have been turned into worst centers of interrogation.” ML in a statement issued to KNO appealed Pakistan ambassador in Delhi and human rights organizations to visit these jails and see how prisoners are 'tortured mentally and physically and treated like animals and denied of their basic rights', "so that jail authorities stop this ill-treatment and inhuman behavior with these prisoners." "Pakistani prisoners who are in jails from last 10-15 years have been recently shifted to Kotbhalwal, Udhampur, Kathua and other jails from central jail Srinagar, are kept in dark narrow cells and denied basic rights. They are forced to work in garden. In case of they refuse then they are tortured, beaten ruthlessly," he said He said they are given unhygienic food due to which their health is deteriorating day by day. "They are not even allowed to keep money in their PP account which is their legal right," he said. “Jail authorities are torturing the inmates mentally and physically, and there are reports that animal like treatment is given to the Pakistani prisoners,” he claimed, adding that “it is political vendetta that detainees are ill-treated.” ML appealed United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC), Amnesty International, Asia Watch and OIC to monitor and see “the pathetic and inhuman treatment meted out to these prisoners and pressurize India to stop this inhuman and undemocratic attitude, otherwise life of these jailed people is endangered.”(KNO)
